Build A Niche Store Case Study - Day 6 & 7 Focus On Search

OK, doing a combined Day 6 & 7 today. Got a little lazy yesterday. Anyway, I shot a video to give a status of where we are at with the case study.

So far, things are looking very positive. We have 2 sales, which is not great but $5 is $5. Also, that is not our focus right now in the first 7 days. Our focus is finding out if anyone buys, which they do. and second, what our keywords should be. Which we did as well. Check out the video to see how I did it.

I apoligize about the poor audio blips that come up. I’m working on that.

Build A Niche Store Case Study - Day 4 Still Collecting Data

OK, Sunday’s are usually a pretty big day in the golf world. So as expected, my pageviews and clicks were all up.

So far, in the 4 days the site has been up:

Google AdWords Campaign: 3,353 impressions, 32 clicks, $5.20 total spend

Google Analytics: 55 visits, 102 page views

Ebay: 78 clicks, $1.96 in earnings

OK, hopefully we had buyers today as we are closing in on day 7 and have had only 1 sale. Let’s hope this picks up a bit.

Build A Niche Store Case Study - Day 3 Reporting

Ah, I love Saturdays. I didn’t get too much done today BANS wise. Took the family to Fair Park in Dallas for a little museum hopping.

But, I did want to give a Day 3 status update for our little Build A Niche Store experiment with Titleist Pro V1 balls.

Here’s the stats so far for 2 full days.

• Google AdWords Campaign: 926 impressions, 10 clicks, $1.84 total spend
• Google Analytics: 22 visits, 43 page views
• Ebay: 30 clicks, $1.96 in earnings

Somebody bought 2 dozen brand new Titleist Pro V1 golf balls and my earnings on that was $1.96. Not bad considering the site was only up less than 48 hours and only got 30 clicks.

Again, I’m excited not because I’m not losing money. But rather because I got a sale out of 30 clicks and within the first 48 hours. That’s really good considering Google didn’t activate my advertising for 16 of those 48.

Anyway, there is still much to be done over the next 4 days. I need to tweak my ad a little to get some additional clicks and get a bit more traffic going to the site. By the time day 7 rolls around, I’d like to be getting atleast 150-200 clicks per day going to eBay. That should get me 3-4 sales and be netting somewhere around $10 per day.

For tonight, I think I’ll just tweak my campaign a bit to see if we can get some more traffic generated. Check back tomorrow to see if we has any new developments go on today.

Build A Niche Store Case Study - Day 2 Affiliate Programs

OK, so yesterday we picked our niche of used Titleist Pro V1, built the store, added some content and started a PPC campaign to test out the niche.

Today is not going to be that exciting because Google did not activate my PPC campaign until this morning, so I don’t have any good traffic numbers to share just yet. That will come tomorrow.

However, there are some things we can do today. We can seek out some additional revenue streams for our site. We will look toward the Golfsmith,  TGW and GolfBalls.com affiliate programs. If any of those look promising we can add their banners to the site. If not, it may be time just to put up some Google Adsense.

Check back tomorrow and we will go over the PPC results and check on our click/sales reports within eBay.
